Our History
Innstead is 31 years old this year. In 1976, a group of friends, who had connected through the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto and Hart House at the University of Toronto, were completing their coursework and beginning to leave school for work and family. They decided to relocate to the same area in the city to maintain these connections.
There was tremendous commitment and energy as Innstead began to grow. Many of the renovations to properties were volunteer- and community-driven events.
Innstead today maintains its strong commitment to community and social justice.
